In order to restore to heath of degraded watershed, development of bio-landscape management is proposed. The development is simplified by permanent land cover index and production land cover index. The index is calculated by using ratio of permanent land cover area to total watershed area, and production land cover area as well. A simple hydrologic rainfall-runoff model is equipped in the development. Bio-landscape management for land and water conservation of watershed is reflected by developing some realistic scenarios of land-cover index. Land slope and soil type are main consideration in developing scenarios. A quantitative assessment is used for evaluating the scenarios. Three elements of basic indicator reflecting the effects of scenarios are (i) hydrology, (ii) erosion and sedimentation, (iii) water yield.button-read-more

 ABSTRACT

In order to restore degraded upper watershed of dam, bio-landscape management concept were used to develop implementation strategy to ameliorate the degradation. The concept basically oriented to design an optimal land use pattern at a watershed. The concept was applied at some upper watersheds of dam in Cenral Java and worked well. In this study, the aim of study was oriented to build strategy for implementing the concept through developing bio-village approach. The upper watershed of Sempor Dam system located at Serayu-Opak River Basin, Central Java was used as a study. Bio-landscape of the watershed of dam is dominated by open agricultural cultivation.button-read-more
